Stratospheric Balloon Project
An ambitious team project to explore the stratosphere using a self-built weather balloon. After an intensive preparation phase with technical challenges, our probe successfully ascended into the upper stratosphere and delivered spectacular images of the Earth's curvature.
As part of a dedicated team, we set ourselves the ambitious goal of sending a self-developed probe into the stratosphere using a weather balloon to collect video footage and measurement data. The path to success was marked by technical setbacks and valuable lessons. Earlier launch attempts taught us crucial details about material resilience and system reliability, sharpening our real-world problem-solving skills. After intensive revisions and preparation, our final launch was successful: the balloon ascended into the upper stratosphere – an altitude where the curvature of our planet and the blackness of space became clearly visible. Our probe was able to record impressive video footage of this during its ascent. The mission came to a happy end with an adventurous but successful landing of the probe and the complete recovery of our valuable data. This project was a formative experience for all of us in applied engineering, project planning, and above all, in the resilience to learn from challenges and consistently pursue a goal.
